50th Anniversary Celebration of Studio Glass: Pioneers of Studio Glass

June 12, 2012–September 9, 2012 D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts » First Floor » Blake Theater

Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, Blake Theater, First Floor

The year 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the development of studio art glass in America. To commemorate this milestone and recognize the may talented artists the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass organized a national initiative which includes more than 160 glass demonstrations, lectures, and exhibitions that will take place in museums, galleries, art centers, universities, festivals and other venues across the United States throughout 2012.

The documentary short Pioneers of Studio Glass was produced by WGTE Public Media for the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass. It is a fascinating look at the 1962 Toledo Workshops where Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino first experimented with making glass outside of the factory setting.

Runtime: 24 minutes (ongoing during regular museum hours)
