How Art Made the World: More Human than Human
DVD presentation
A five-part DVD documentary series is a fascinating look at why humans developed representational imagery or visual art from an archaeological as well as socio-anthropological perspective. The first episode probes the global trend of unrealistic depictions of the human body. Throughout time, humans have felt the need to create visual representations of ourselves. Is this hardwired in the human brain? What can we learn about this phenomenon from modern studies in neuroscience?
