In recognition of April Fools Day, Richard Sanderson, curator of physical science at the Springfield Science Museum, will present “Foolish Astronomy” on Friday, April 1, at 7:30 pm at the museum. The program will focus on astronomical misconceptions.

Alan Rifkin, president of the Springfield Stars Club, will teach people how to properly observe the heavens through their backyard telescopes at the Springfield Science Museum on Friday, March 4, at 7:30 pm.
Science Museum Offers Overnight Camp-Ins for Scout Groups

The Springfield Science Museum is offering overnight camp-in programs for Girl Scout and Boy Scout groups. Scouts participate in a variety of hands-on activities that will help them earn the requirements for badges, belt loops or try-its. All groups will see a planetarium show and decorate a T-shirt with a screen-print design. They will also enjoy an evening pizza party, and a light breakfast in the morning.

The Springfield Science Museum’s large rooftop telescope will be open for public sky-gazing on Friday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 pm. The program will be held rain or shine. If it is overcast, a planetarium show will be presented in place of telescope viewing.
