Josh Simpson Exhibition

November 5, 2007

Josh Simpson: A Visionary Journey in Glass, 1972-2007, a retrospective exhibition highlighting more than three decades of glassblowing by one of the most acclaimed artists in the field, will be on view from November 20, 2007 through February 3, 2008 at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts.

Teacher Workshop

The Museum of Fine Arts will present a two-part teacher workshop on Saturday, Nov. 3 and 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Participants will learn how to teach American history using images from the museum's collection of more than 800 Currier & Ives prints.

New Print Exhibition

Etchings of bridges ranging from spans across the Thames River to the covered bridges of Vermont will be featured in Cross That Bridge: Prints from the Permanent Collection, on view at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts through March 2, 2008.

Local Artist Exhibition

Ruta Smilskalns, an artist from Wayland, Mass., creates intriguing work form the most common object in her sewing basket, colorful spools of thread. Her "Spool Paintings" will be on view in the Community Gallery at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts from September 18, 2007 through January 13, 2008.

New Currier & Ives Exhibit

Some of the finest examples of prints produced by the lithography firm of Currier & Ives will be on view at the Museum of Fine Arts from July 19, 2007 through January 6, 2008 in the special exhibition Currier & Ives' Greatest Hits.
