Expert on Dead Sea Scrolls to Speak at Museum of Fine Arts

Dr. Adolfo Roitman, curator of the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scroll collection at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, will present "From Serpent to Satan: The Story of Paradise in Literature and Art" at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts on February 2 at 7:30 p.m. The lecture is free to the public and will be followed by a reception with Dr. Roitman.
Dr. Roitman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is an ordained conservative rabbi. He earned his Ph.D. in ancient Jewish thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he had also earned a master's degree in comparative religions.
The event is co-sponsored by the Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Springfield, the Arts and Culture Initiative of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the Interfaith Council of Western Massachusetts, and the Springfield Museums.
