Brick Artist to Create Sculpture from LEGO® Bricks at Museum

New York artist Nathan Sawaya will create a sculpture out of LEGO building bricks at the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday, July 31, from 11 am-3 pm The Art of the Brick, an exhibition of Sawaya’s LEGO sculptures, is on view at the museum through September 5.

The Art of the Brick features 29 three-dimensional works created from nearly one million colorful bricks.  During his demonstration at the museum, Sawaya will show how he elevates this common toy to the status of art.

The demonstration is free with the price of museum admission, but there is a special exhibition fee of $5 per person in addition to museum admission for all visitors ages 3 and up to see The Art of the Brick exhibit. The Brick Lab, a play area stocked with LEGO bricks at the Science Museum, is included in the special exhibition ticket.

Sawaya has been featured on national television, including The Today Show, Late Night with David Letterman, and The Colbert Report. In January of this year, there was an entire Jeopardy category devoted to The Lego Art of Nathan Sawaya.
