D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts Exhibits

Paris has been depicted in paintings, prints, sketches and drawings through the ages. Its nickname, the “City of Light,” originated as a result of the city’s claim to fame as a center of education and new ideas during the Age of Enlightenment, and later to its early adoption of street lighting.

This exhibition features works on paper that portray views of the city from the Seine River and other historic locations. Also included are portraits and abstract works by French artists Henri Matisse, Fernand Leger, Georges Braque, and Jean Francois Millet that hint at that elusive special quality, or je ne sais quoi, that the city has imparted to artists, residents and visitors throughout time.
