Christ before Pilate
Jesus stands in the judgment hall before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea after being arrested. It was tradition to release one prisoner during the Passover Festival and Pontius asked a crowd that had gathered who he should let go. The crowd demanded that Jesus be crucified. Pilate washed his hands declaring that he was “innocent of this man’s blood.”
