Father's Pride
Currier & Ives reinforced the concept of the ideal family through prints of happy parents with their well-behaved children. The firm produced seven different versions of Father's Pride, including this design with a father holding a child on his lap. The images reveal the Victorian way of thinking about child-rearing.
