Cutter Genesta, R.Y.S.
Charles R. Parsons, the son of noted lithographer Charles Parsons who worked for Endicott & Company, went into business with Lyman W. Atwater in 1863. The team specialized in marine prints, such as this one. Parsons and Atwater succeeded in selling finished designs for several lithography firms, such as Currier & Ives, which then imprinted the picture and published the image for resale. This print is a chromolithograph, meaning that it was printed in color, rather than hand-colored.
