A "Crack" Sloop in a Race Windward. Yacht Gracie of New York.

A close friend of Currier & Ives, artist Charles Parsons created many original drawings for their lithography firm. He is best known for his marine subjects including the lithography for works reproduced from original paintings by renowned artist, James Buttersworth. In this nautical scene, a single-masted yacht under full sail moves through the water with nine people aboard. An American flag is flying near the top of the sail and several other sloops are visible in the background.
