Brook Trout, - Just Caught
This print celebrates the angler's success. Although the lithograph does not credit Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, the artist created several similar pictures, such as "American Speckled Brook Trout." Currier & Ives often purchased Tait's wildlife and sporting paintings and published them as color lithographs. It is interesting to note that "American Speckled Brook Trout" may have been the last painting Tait sold to the firm, since he believed that the prints competed with the success of his paintings.
