Spotlight on Art: Springfield Stories

The D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts is renowned for its comprehensive collections of American and European Art. Works by Springfield artists from the 19th through the 21st centuries are prominently displayed in the galleries of American art to reflect the Museum’s commitment to and appreciation of local artists. Springfield artists represented in the collection include: folk painter Joseph Whiting Stock, portraitist Chester Harding, printmaker Asa Cheffetz, still-life painter Jonas Joseph La Valley, landscapist John Roy and more. Director of Art Museums and Collections, Heather Haskell and Curator of Art, Julia Courtney will discuss the work of these native artists as well as the Community Gallery Program that furthers the Museum’s commitment to displaying work created in the Pioneer Valley.
