The Springfield Museums will present the following Museums à la Carte lecture programs in February. The programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 pm in the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.

On Thursday, February 7 from 5-8 pm, The Springfield Museums will present their next Culture & Cocktails event of the season, Indulgence: An Evening of Wine of Chocolate. The event will take place at the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, and is sponsored by Health New England.

On Thursday, January 24 at 12:15 p.m., the Springfield Museums will present a lecture on the evolution of the guitar by HP Newquist, Executive Director of the National Guitar Museum and creator of the new exhibit, GUITAR: The Instrument that Rocked the World. This talk, which will take place in the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, replaces the lecture originally scheduled for January 24 on American abstract art.

The Springfield Museums may be located on the Quadrangle, but they recently hit the trifecta in the Readers Raves poll. The museums were selected by readers of The Republican and MassLive.com in three categories for the 2013 Reader Raves: Best Museum, Best Gift Shop and Best Rainy Day Place for the Family.

The Blake House Café, a new restaurant serving light fare, is now open at the Springfield Museums. The Café, which is located in the historic Elijah Blake House, is operated by the owners of the popular Benson’s Bagels eatery on Sumner Avenue in Springfield.
