Donald D'Amato, history professor at Springfield Technical Community College, will lead a walking tour of the grounds of the Springfield Armory on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10:30 a.m. until noon. The tour will begin and end at the Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle on Edwards Street off Chestnut Street.

Bring the kids and the out-of-town relatives to the Springfield Museums on the day after Thanksgiving for "Dino-Mite Dinosaurs," a day of prehistoric fun. Activities will take place on Friday, Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and are free with museum admission. Grab a quick lunch at the Family Fun Snack Bar in the Museum of Fine Arts and make a day of it. "Dino-Mite Dinosaurs" is sponsored by Westfield Bank.

A few spaces are still available in the Springfield Museums' tour of the cultural highlights and natural wonders of Australia and New Zealand, scheduled for March 4-24, 2007. The trip includes a two-night stay in Hawaii. The deadline for reservations is November 17.

The Springfield Museums have developed a comprehensive, searchable online database of one of the largest public collections of Currier & Ives prints in the world. The database has been funded with a generous grant from the Frank Stanley Beveridge Foundation.

The Springfield Museums' Weekend Family Fun series will continue on Saturday, October 28, with "Tricks and Treats: A Magical Halloween." Children are invited to wear their Halloween costume and go from museum to museum for special treats. Activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are free with museum admission. Weekend Family Fun programs are sponsored by TD Banknorth.
