Model Solar Car Competition

May 28, 2008

Hundreds of middle school students from across the Northeast will converge on the Springfield Museums' Quadrangle on June 8 to compete in the 11th annual Northeast Regional Junior Solar Sprint model solar car competition organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA). Racing begins at 10 a.m. and the public is invited.

Multi-media Performance

I Sing My Name!, a multi-media performance by the new theatrical group Teatro Vida, will be presented on June 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. in the Davis Auditorium of the Museum of Fine Arts at the Quadrangle.

Astronomy Day

April 28, 2008

The Springfield Science Museum will celebrate Astronomy Day on Saturday, May 10, from noon to 4 p.m. Weather permitting, visitors can look at sunspots through specially-filtered telescopes set up on the Quadrangle grounds. Jack Megas of the Springfield Stars Club will display his meteorite collection in the museum and give informal presentations throughout the afternoon. Special visits to the museum's large rooftop observatory will also be offered.
