Then & Now: Life at the Turn of the Century
Students will act as historians as they interpret the 19th and early-20th centuries through the artifacts of the Wood Museum of Springfield History. From Indian Motocycles and antique Rolls-Royce autos to Milton Bradley board games, this extensive collection tells the story of Springfield’s industrial past. Students will identify how historic objects are similar to or different from our belongings today, and handle artifacts such as antique car parts. Students will work on a mock assembly line to better understand the efficiency of interchangeable parts that led to the industrial revolution and how factory objects were made and are often still made today.
