School Programs
History Detectives
Students will act as detectives when they investigate the lives of fictional historic characters – examples of young people in the 19th and early-20th centuries. Listening for “clues,” students will discover the stories behind the numerous artifacts in the Wood Museum of Springfield History. Students will discuss their character’s everyday life and their connection to factory work, school, leisure time and neighborhoods, all while viewing antique bicycles, motorcycles, cars, firefighting tools, firearms, games and manufacturing displays. Literacy skills are enforced through individual reading and group discussion.
