Students will act as detectives when they investigate the life of a historic character–examples of young people in the 19th and early-20th centuries. Listening for “clues” students will discover the stories behind the numerous artifacts in the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History. Students will discuss their character’s everyday life: from factory work, school, leisure time and neighborhoods to home-life, all while viewing antique bicycles, motorcycles, cars, firefighting tools, firearms and games. Literacy skills are enforced through individual reading and group discussion.
