School Vacation: Sights and Sounds of the Rainforest

Activities are free with museum admission unless noted.
Rainforest Adventure, 10 am-5 pm
A multi-sensory exploration of one of our planet’s most precious resources. Through a variety of interactive experiences and hands on displays, you’ll learn about the amazing diversity of life in rainforests and the many challenges they face today. On view through May 11. $5 special exhibition fee for all visitors ages 3 and up.
The Ecology of Sound: Exploring the Sounds of the Rainforest, 1 pm
An exciting and dramatic performance that entertains and inspires children and parents to absorb the rhythms, sounds, and feelings of the Brazilian rainforest. Through his engaging and dynamic style, Ricardo Frota entertains and educates while playing multi-cultural songs from indigenous peoples of South America. Ricardo performances highlights the use of traditional rhythm instruments as well instruments made of recycled and natural found objects. Seating is limited.
Art Activities, 11 am-3 pm
Hands-on themed crafts in the Science Museum.
Family Science Adventures, 11 am-2 pm
Look for the Roving Scientist. You never know where they might be and what kind of demonstration they have in store for you!
Art Discovery Center, Noon-3:45 pm
Try on costumes, make an art project, and get inspired by colorful, hand-painted murals.
Planetarium Shows, 11:15, noon, 1 & 2 pm
Explore in the cosmos in the Seymour Planetarium. Additional fee. Learn more >>
