Steve Waksman, professor of Music and American Studies at Smith College, acclaimed author of Instruments of Desire and This Ain’t the Summer of Love will discuss pioneer inventor and guitarist Les Paul’s role in changing the sound of American music and the face of the electric guitar. Also on the program is John Thomas of Quinnipiac University, who will discuss his innovative process of taking x-rays of vintage guitars to examine their intricate craftsmanship.
