Chicopee 1950-1975: “The Strategic Air Command (Sac) Years”
Stephen R. Jendrysik, Chicopee Historian
The lecture will discuss the nearly three decade relationship between the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force and a small New England city. During the “Cold War” years, Jendrysik taught military dependents at Chicopee. He will tell the story of a community’s initial misgivings growing into a beneficial symbiotic relationship, which continues to this day.
