The Master Forger: The Man Who Painted Vermeers

This slide lecture will explore the nearly forgotten story of Han ver Meegeren, a Dutch artist whose work was misjudged by art critics and experts. Driven by disappointment and no recognition, he was desperate to prove his talent. He forged Jan Vermeer, Frans, Hals, and Pieter de Hoogh–and then was discovered by only a fluke, upsetting the art world with the most sensational forgery case in the history of art.
